The debut full-length from this LA band finds singer/guitarist/songwriter Jon Leahy callaborating with drummer Carlos Hamma and producer Ronan Chris Murphy. Recorded over the course of only three days, Throw Me the Keys is a raw, urgent album. Leahy and Hamma allow quiet, droning songs to suddenly fall off cliffs, erupting in feedback and energy, and use these dynamics to lend musical heft to Leahy's heartfelt, honest, and occasionally funny lyrics. Although Hamma left the band following its release, Throw Me the Keys serves as a fitting record of his time spent with the Broken Remotes, and continues to leave aspiring drummers shaking their heads. The songs here range from up-tempo punk (My North Wall) to quiet alt-country (Lie In Wait) but share common themes, explored with empathy and wit. But perhaps the most memorable song on the album is the Velvet Underground cover Pale Blue Eyes, perfectly, irreverantly reworked into a fuzz bass-fueled punk classic.

Great Rock/Punk Album

One of the few punk albums I've purchased that I can listen to from start to finish. Great songs, well-composed pieces. I'm surprised they aren't bigger. Hellz yeah!
