Album Notes

Rena Radich, a veteran vocal performer, toured Europe and recorded her first album with the internationally known SBVC Vocal Ensemble. She joined the Clubhouse Records label working as a solo & guest artist, performing and recording with singer/songwriter Tor Olson. Rena performs on Tor’s album, Two Worlds, their second collaboration since the release of Picture. CW, of the Napra Trade Journal, calls it “a dazzling original.” S. Ryals, of the New Age Retailer, calls it “full of warmth, passion and joy.”

Rena’s extensive vocal training includes studies with the late Judy Davis, the critically acclaimed recipient of the prestigious “Billy Graham Life-Time Achievement Award.” Ms. Davis coached the likes of Judy Garland, Barbra Strisand, Tina Turner, Bernadette Peters, and other stars.

Firefly , an all a cappella experience, is Rena’s first solo release. Its inspiration originates from her summertime childhood experiences at Southern California Campfire Girl’s Camp Nawakwa. Firefly marries Rena’s fond musical memories with her present day professional performance and recording expertise. In doing so, she creates beautifully rendered vibrant and updated versions of songs she learned and sang as a young, enthusiastic camper.

Although Firefly was created with a younger audience in mind, it has a grown-up feel that evokes nostalgic emotions among those who in their own youth hiked, canoed, camped, and sat around a crackling campfire laughing and singing into the night.

Firefly’s content varies from simple and delicately sung, heart-felt songs of “Peace, Oh River,” and “The Plea” ( a literal plea for peace), to cheery and spirited songs such as “Linger,” and “Above a Plain.” Increasing in complexity and even more compelling are the enthusiastic and robust “Ho! Young Rider,” and the multi-voiced “Rose” and “Suitors.”

Rena’s smooth, clear, and pure sounding voice, allows listeners to sit back and enjoy that which is delicate and heart-felt, yet also lively and spirited: qualities that together are not often heard in today’s music.
