A Brilliant Sound
author: Bklyn Kid
Rench exemplifies the genre of Brooklyn Country. If country music is Bob Dylan’s All Along the Watchtower, than Brooklyn Country is Hendrix’s cover… imbued with visceral depth that only Brooklyn could add. Heartfelt country beats with lyrics that New Yorkers can get into; we may not drive pickup trucks but we know to Step In and Stand Clear of the Closing Doors. Perfectly fusing the established sound of pedal steel and fiddle with DJ skills from the city that invented Hip Hop, this album is a must… you’ll be glad you bought it, and you’ll be hungry for more.

I can't stop listening this CD. The songs are very catchy and every one of them deserves to be on the album, they're not just 'filler'. If you enjoyed the B-Star EP 'What we do', then this CD won't dissapoint you.

hick/hop? not sure but it is a truly interesting disc

The disc is one of the strongest of 2006! I buy 100+ discs a year and play a lot more on a college radio show, and this stands out for it's unique take on country music. I was a little concerned that it might be too hip-hop, or urban/slick, but it is true to the song. The beats are plenty, yet tasty and always add to the songs construction. The covers-FANCY-by Bobbie Gentry, TIL I GAIN CONTROL AGAIN-by Rodney Crowell, and ALL I HAVE TO OFFER YOU IS ME- by Owens/Frazier are very good but the originals are outstanding ...great stuff for the Americana fan
