Danish musician.
René Evald has for many years sine 1967 been in the forefront of the danish rock, blues, country and folk scene and has played in every corner of the kingdom and on all the festivals including Roskilde Festival.
The canadian "Real Blues Magazine" has René Evalds "Copenhagen Time" on its list of best blues releases.
René Evalds CD "Copenhagen Time" has been nominated to "Danish Music Awards - Folk 2009" - as the best country album of the year. Furthermore the titelsong "Copenhagen Time" has been chosen to be a part of Denmarks musical image abroad on the CD "Folk & Roots Music from Denmark 2009".
Pacific Blues/Jerry Hall - USA:
"It is outstanding music with a surprising delivery and feel. Innovative covers and varied arrangements gives a very polished and unique framework for his style."
Nordis" - www.nordische-musik.de - Germany:
"COPENHAGEN TIME" is the solo debut from this Dane - unspectacular, relaxed, casual - and just to be reliably conservative - way good. This singer, with the voice almost inconspicuous before casually, perform this songs - as if we as listeners rather randomly have visited the rehearsal of Evald band. But in this casualness lies the real power, a power from which one hardly escapes.
"AmericanaUK" :
"Imagine a Danish Van Morrison doing old blues and country, and doing it pretty well."
Roots Zone" - Denmark :
"René Evald really comes through with this new cd, that shows his format as a singer and guitarplayer."
"Rock n´Reel" Norman Darwen - UK:
"Unbelieveably - or maybe not, all the musicians on this very entertaining set are Danish."
"Roots Time" - Belgium & The Netherlands:
"A somewhat relaxed atmosphere - reminiscent of music at sunset or dry grass after a refreshing rain. From the first sparkling "Not Fade Away", which puts you in mind of Eric Bibb, you hear the personal involvement of this soulful singer who knows how to explain his "real love" for this music. "
"Blues & Rhythm" - Skotland:
"This is one of the most eclectic choices of music by any one artist that I have heard in a long time. Evald’s singing reminds me of a younger John Martyn. This is a pleasant, well produced album with some soft rock and country style ballad arrangements supported by some tasteful guitar playing"
"Rootsville" - Belgien:
"The entire album is bathed in an almost self-evident laid back atmosphere. For J.J. Cale to fade.An absolute must for those who know to appreciate semi-acoustic and acoustic music and who loves unexpected and different arrangements. And an obligation for lovers of slide guitar, Dobro, lap or pedal steel."
