Bio: Born in the Netherlands,Rene Koopman came to the United
States to further his musical education. While attending
college in Louisiana,he met two musicians who would later woo
him to Memphis and The Tanner Company, then one of the largest
and most succesful broadcast productions houses in the country
Signing on as a recording engineer,Rene was soon moonlighting
as a pianist and vibraphone player on company recording sessions. Work outside the studio followed.Leaving the company in the mid 1970's Rene would go on to become a local

back-up musician for the likes of Frank Sinatra,Bob Hope and Sammy Davis Jr.A skilled photographer/cinematographer and
videographer ,Rene Koopman is also known for his work behind
the scenes. His heart however, remains true to his music.
The Shearing-inspired CD showcases his talents as an

author: Patrick Mages
Rene is a master. He is one of the most tasteful jazz pianists and he radiates style and class. His CD will suggest the famous George Shearing Quintet sound, which puts Rene in great company. Rene is known as a pianist but he brings the same touch and taste to the vibes. Mr. Koopman is one of the best.
