RENO´S MEN
New album Step UP TO THE STEREO SLIDER
Available on Quagmyre shagpile records
The soul of Reno's Men flows from the
gifted pen of Scottish singer/songwriter James Murphy, whose reputation as a talented writer, musician and performer has grown while working alongside and touring with artists such as George Michael, Neneh Cherry, Gavin Friday and Simon Phillips.
James joined the talents of John Previty, Stuart Brown, and Jimmy Weinbrecht to form Reno's Men.
Pulsing underneath a blend of poprock - driving guitars, twisting loops, and live beats, traces of "Starsky Zep" meeting "Scooby rock doo" are shot through glam twisted riffs, forming an audio sensation. Add to this sonic joyride a host of insightful lyrics and instantly memorable melodies and you now have the essence of Reno's men.
With a strong visual sense of song delivery, the band has become well known for its unforgettably energetic live performances.
M.T.V. spotlighted the band's musical and personal style in a prime -time
special, where Reno's Men wrote music for and were featured in a half hour music/fashion show with New York Designers Anna Sui, Todd Oldham and Mark Jacobs . The lads songs also feature in Warren Miller's feature film "50" as well as the MGM movie "Guy thing," and the independently acclaimed "Swerve."
The men of Reno entered the Sennheiser Evolution band contest winning a trip to Hanover Germany during which the Reno word was succesfuly spread. While there, Reno's Men recorded the live anthem "gets by," which is featured on their new album, "STEP UP TO THE STEREO SLIDER," available at RENOSMEN.COM or CDBABY.COM
With their unique sonic/ visual marriage acting as an ever shifting comment on the joys, humor, contradictions, and pitfalls of the 21st. century, Reno's Men, twisting from brit style pop to in your head stomping groove, turns a mirror on the world...

STEPPIN OUT MAGAZINE
"They are the most fascinating band I've ever stumbled upon."
YEH, YEH, YEH, MAGAZINE
"Love your superstar! Murphy demands throwing out his arms to receive your adoration. And you feel it, and you throw it right at him because even if you're normally thinking of another superstar, right then and there he's the only one. And all of this goes on with the master of the stage smiling, looking oddly shy and like there's nowhere else he'd rather be. Consequently you are feeling the same way. It's a beautiful thing."

Funkadelic pop with amazing vocals, great guitars, and flashy beats .

Step up to the Stereo Slider truly captures James Murphy's powerful and amazing vocals while combing Stuart's explosive guitar with John and Jimmy's funkadelic rhythms creating something fresh and new. With it's mix of funk, pop, dance, and soulful ballads, Reno's Men welcome me into their CD with warm butterscotch, soulful singing and hard-hitting, tasty beats. Then they throw in some deep chocolate contemporary electronica making it a decadent and unexpected pleasure on every track. It's just delicious. I give it 5 stars.

Buy this CD. Now. Do it. Seriously. I'm not kidding.

This album has some outstanding original songs. The album has real diversity between songs. By that I mean the band shows it's versatility in varying it's style on the songs. But the overall writing and guitar work ties it all together.
Hopefully some of the radio friendly cuts will get the airplay they richly deserve.
Pick it up, you won't be disappointed!

Groundbreaking superslick pop bollocks
author: Stu " Stubbs " Brown ( Loop reviews)
It would've been 5 stars if only they were better looking. Great production and superb writing only hampered by the seemingly
mental scope of the talented James Murphski's kaliedoscopic imagination. I've heard about these Scottish guy's .. alright until you look up their kilts!
Excellent job - keep drinking the whisky...
