BANDMEMBERS BIO
Colin Healy has had a passion for music since second grade. Healy has performed for the Broward County Honors and Youth Orchestras. Involvement in the Performing Arts Program of South Florida inspired and enabled him to create songs and lyrics that are a reflection of his feelings and personal life experiences. Private lessons and continued training gave him even more passion for music and performing. During his early teens Healy met and bonded with fellow musician, Jacob Bauman. They formed the band “The Republik“. Healy, singer, songwriter, guitarist, violinist, pianist and co-producer of the band’s first CD, titled “last chance planet.,” says that, “My songs mix real life situations with deep philosophy to produce heavy lyrics with symbolic meaning that everyone can relate to. No song I have ever written has been sad, happy or whatever. They are all a bunch of words that mean something to me on a personal level, however they are written in such a way to act as a mirror that everyone can see themselves in.”
Jacob Bauman attended the South Florida Performing Arts Magnet program and the experience provided him a strong background in tempo, comprehension and composition of music. Private lessons and continued training lead to a passion for music and performing. During this time he met and became best friends with Colin Healy. Bauman, at Healy’s suggestion , learned to play bass guitar. As a bass player, violinist, and back-up vocalist, Bauman has been described in an article in the Dania Beach Press newspaper as having “ A knack for creative bass lines; a fast fingered freak of nature.“ Harmonies come naturally for this aspiring musician and his on stage direction helps bring the band together.
Alberto Pizarro has always had an obsession for music. Rhythm and beat were taught to him starting in the third grade while attending a South Florida Performing Arts Magnet program. Pizarro strayed from the life of music for a few years following elementary school graduation.
“My biggest regret in life, up to this point, was not continuing with music after the fifth grade. The middle school I attended had a music program, but no one to teach my instrument of choice, the violin.” Fortunately, Pizarro refocused in high school and starting taking guitar lessons. A bit of a head banger at times, playing the guitar has taught Pizarro to let loose. “I am constantly studying music now and practicing guitar everyday. I love the feel and sound more than you can imagine!”
Pizarro has been a member of The Republik since 2007.
