Band Bio
It was in 2006 when long-time friends and band members Colin Healy and Jacob Bauman decided they would officially launch the band “The Republik”. From rock to jazz, Beatles to Lincoln Park, The Republik appeals to a broad range of alternative and indie genres. The “last chance planet.” demonstrates the exciting and diverse talents of the band’s four young musicians. Backup vocalist, Jacob Bauman,17, plays bass and violin, with Beau Million,18, on drums. Composer and lyricist, Colin Healy,18, who co-produced the CD, is the band’s lead vocalist, plays rhythm guitar, keyboards and violin. Band member, Alberto Pizarro,19, is on electric and acoustic guitars.
Healy and Bauman became friends while attending a South Florida performing arts magnet program where each began playing violin in second grade , and where both were selected to perform with the Broward County Honors Orchestra which included award-winning performances in national orchestra competitions. Healy went on to join the South Florida Youth Orchestra. Additionally, they are active members of their high school’s drama department, both performing and directing in theatre productions. Pizarro began playing violin in third grade. He was also a student of the magnet program where he became friends with Healy and Bauman. He joined his fellow musicians as a member of The Republik in 2007. Million is the newest addition to the band, joining in 2008. He has been playing drums since age ten, and has been the lead percussionist in his school’s jazz band since eighth grade. At age 15, Million auditioned and joined solo artist Alexx Calisse. Million and Calisse have appeared together in a variety of venues, including Miami’s Roxy Theatre, and at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood. Most recently, Calisse and Million performed at the N.A.M.M. Conference in Anaheim, CA. in front of 30,000 plus fans.

Our friend Emily played the drums for this cd and we thank her for her time and talents.
Additionally, Mark Woodbury of Curbstone gave the following commentary on cdbaby.com, “Let me just say that when my wife and I listened to the CD, we were blown away. Being a musician myself I have really been impressed with the creativity and passion that Colin and his friends have shown.”
The Republik has performed at a number of local venues, including Dania Beach Grill, Paulo’s 3’s Company and Docker’s Bar and Grill, King’s Head Pub all in Dania Beach, Florida, and Capone’s Flicker-Lite located in Hollywood, Florida. BANDMEMBERS BIO
Colin Healy has had a passion for music since second grade. Healy has performed for the Broward County Honors and Youth Orchestras. Involvement in the Performing Arts Program of South Florida inspired and enabled him to create songs and lyrics that are a reflection of his feelings and personal life experiences. Private lessons and continued training gave him even more passion for music and performing. During his early teens Healy met and bonded with fellow musician, Jacob Bauman. They formed the band “The Republik“. Healy, singer, songwriter, guitarist, violinist, pianist and co-producer of the band’s first CD, titled “last chance planet.,” says that, “My songs mix real life situations with deep philosophy to produce heavy lyrics with symbolic meaning that everyone can relate to. No song I have ever written has been sad, happy or whatever. They are all a bunch of words that mean something to me on a personal level, however they are written in such a way to act as a mirror that everyone can see themselves in.”
Jacob Bauman attended the South Florida Performing Arts Magnet program and the experience provided him a strong background in tempo, comprehension and composition of music. Private lessons and continued training lead to a passion for music and performing. During this time he met and became best friends with Colin Healy. Bauman, at Healy’s suggestion , learned to play bass guitar. As a bass player, violinist, and back-up vocalist, Bauman has been described in an article in the Dania Beach Press newspaper as having “ A knack for creative bass lines; a fast fingered freak of nature.“ Harmonies come naturally for this aspiring musician and his on stage direction helps bring the band together.
Alberto Pizarro has always had an obsession for music. Rhythm and beat were taught to him starting in the third grade while attending a South Florida Performing Arts Magnet program. Pizarro strayed from the life of music for a few years following elementary school graduation.
“My biggest regret in life, up to this point, was not continuing with music after the fifth grade. The middle school I attended had a music program, but no one to teach my instrument of choice, the violin.” Fortunately, Pizarro refocused in high school and starting taking guitar lessons. A bit of a head banger at times, playing the guitar has taught Pizarro to let loose. “I am constantly studying music now and practicing guitar everyday. I love the feel and sound more than you can imagine!”
Pizarro has been a member of The Republik since 2007.
Beau Million’s desire to perform musically began at an early age. His father started him rocking at the age of 10, “Going to the CSNY 2K concert was awesome, we were singing along with thousands of people during ‘Four Dead in Ohio’.” Million fell in love with the idea of playing the drums and joined his middle school jazz band as lead percussionist. Fortunately, at the onset of his musical career, Million was advised to learn to read music. “Reading music is something that many drummers bypass due to talent, I wanted to be the complete package!” Million’s natural talent was perfected while taking lessons from a family friend that played jazz. All that dedication and hard work paid off when, at age 15, Million auditioned and joined solo artist Alexx Calise and performed at the Roxy Theatre, Hard Rock Café and then, in front of 30,000 plus fans, at the N.A.M.M. conference in Anaheim, CA. Million’s love for performing landed him with The Republik in 2008.
