Ed Boggs began playing guitar at age 15. He has been in several bands over the years since then, including an Italian Rock-and-Roll band ("I Passeri" (The Sparrows)) and an Italian Folk trio both in Italy. The R-E-T-R-O-F-I-T Band is his current project which performs all original songs. Other bands have included: Ocean Rose, Timepiece, Feelin' Alright, and Instant Replay. In all of the bands, Ed has played rhythm and lead guitar and has done some lead vocal work, but prefers singing backup vocals. In the late '60's he spent a summer in Spain living with the Gypsies and learning Flamenco Guitar and was taught Bluegrass Banjo by his uncle, who played on the radio in W. Virginia with Flat and Scruggs. Key musical influences include: Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Eagles, Dead, Doobies, Byrds, Janice Joplin, Doors, Jose Feliciano, Santana, Ronstadt, Cars, James Gang (Joe Walsh) and Police (Sting).
Pete McDermott began playing drums at the age of ten. By the age of sixteen he was playing the Ohio club circuit on a regular basis. He has performed, and recorded with many bands, including Zavior,Timepiece, Jim Ballard (yes..the same Jim Ballard who recorded and produced this disc.) His influences include The Beatles,(as a group, and solo artists) Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, Van Morrison...and too many others to mention. Pete continues to compose original material with the members of Retrofit...
John Ozzie Oswald He wears many hats (literally, man...) and he goes by many names.
Aside from a couple fedoras and countless apple caps... John has been a lead singer/lead guitarist since 1969. He got serious with banging the piano and blowing blues harp in 1972 & has written over 200 songs since 1973.
Names : solo-wise you may attend a Franky James show for a Frank Sinatra tribute, hey, a touch of Bobby Darin and and a jazz flavored original or two... OR at the Gerry Garcia Birthday Festival witness a "Johnny O Does Dylan" set!
Hmmm... no stage name with RETROFIT! John met Ol' Bogmeister & that Smug-Dermott guy...uh I mean Ed & Pete in a great danceable oldies band, Time Piece. They did some great gigs togethor 1997 - 2002. John proved to be a good match with these two versatile and solid players with whom (ta-da...) RETROFIT was formed!
