A New Sound - "It came in and knocked me down..."

This album came as something of a surprise to me; one which, for a while, left me uneasy. As Return to Earth display a sound on this debut which is unlike anything I’ve heard before, it took me some time to fully appreciate their music.
The trio, consisting of drummer Chris Pennie (of Dillinger Escape Plan and Coheed and Cambria fame), guitarist Brett Aveni, and vocalist/keyboardist Ron Scalzo, have constructed a monster out of distortion, blast beats, and harmony. Despite the initial uneasiness that comes with any new experience, I have found these compositions to be incredibly addictive. Laden with intricate drumming, thick, luscious vocal harmonies, and fantastic interplay between guitar and keys, Return to Earth’s “Captains of Industry” stands as a monument to ‘big rock.’

Ron Sent me an mp3 of "Captains of Industry" through facebook. Within the first couple seconds, i could tell this was going to be something worth listening to. For fans of Q*BALL that would love to hear those golden vocal chords of Ron's vibrating over some intense, heavy rock, please allow yourself the pleasure of owning this wonderful, truthful album.
