Album Notes

When Rick Reuther begins to sing, heads turn! Sounds like Sinatra! Sounds like Bennett! These comparisons alone, while frequent, do not begin to capture the essence of Rick's stage presence and warmth when entertaining an audience of his fans. From tender ballads to swinging grooves, this is a singer in command of his craft.

The CD is a collection of swing and ballad standards by some of the legendary American composers including the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Lerner and Lowe and Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The work was produced by Reuther and Tom Hagen and recorded at Hagen Studios in Sarinac, MI. The CD features the work of some fine West Michigan area musicians, including Dave Hay, Bill Vitts, Tom Hagen, Cherie Lynn, Mike Lutley, Max Collie III, along with a vocal guest appearance by Cherie Lynn. The musical arrangements vary from swinging to tender, sounding both fresh, yet classic. Reuther, who counts Bennett, Sinatra, Darrin, Cole and Joe Williams as some of his vocal musical influences sings in a clear baritone with always intelligible lyrics.

Born and raised primarily in Michigan, Rick began performing at an early age and in additon to singing, has worked as a composer, guitarist, actor and voice-over artist.
After graduating from Michigan State University, Rick performed in clubs, hotels and resorts throughout the midwest and along the East Coast. Two years in Los Angeles performing with the Astrid Cowan Trio preceded his return to Michigan and then to Grand Rapids. Acting stints on Unsolved Mysteries, as well as in a host of commercial productions followed.
Rick has been a featured performer with: Take Five, Astrid Cowan Trio, opening act for Pat Paulson, openig act for the Four Freshman, opening act for O'Brien and Severa, featured performer for ALTICOR in San Francisco, Seattle, Long Beach, Houston and featured at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids, MI.
