The Christian Church has traditionally turned to the letters of St. Paul for an understanding of the Cross. It is Paul who recorded 'Christ died for our sins" (1 Cor 15:3). But did not Jesus have an understanding as to the significance of what he was doing when he made his final journey to Jerusalem? Or was his death an unexpected accident? This set of 13 lectures starts with the metaphors for the Cross that appear in the New Testament and then reviews the servent songs in Isaiah.
