There's a real powerpop sensibility at work here. Tommy Hahn (vocals) belts out the tunes with power and skill while Bill Reuter (guitar) delivers riffs and licks handily played on top of the tight rhythm section of CD Smid (bass) and Glen Moncatch (drums). Tracks like "Ordinary Girl" and "Alarm Clocks" are perfect for cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway, while "Jokers and Players" and "I Never Got Used To It" are bittersweet love songs with a lot of feeling. Reuter's lyrics are by turns convoluted and surreal, and narrative and entertaining. Produced by David Vartanian (Violent Femmes, Talking Heads, Live...), the disc has a great, present sound. Vartanian does a great job of translating the Revs' live energy into the studio.

Revolush Easy On the Ears
author: Mike Sandler
On "Actors," the quartet serves up luxurious pop, as evident on "Ordinary Girl." The layered vocals of Hahn shine on this one, as he has the ability to harmonize with Reuter's fretwork. On the raucous "Hoot 1000," Revolush reveals they can bring the rock, as well. Reuter's lead work sizzles, and fits perfectly with the foot-stomping chorus. And with "California Rain," Reuter shows why he is the band's principle lyricist and songwriter.

Review from The Onion Milwaukee edition 2-8 February 2006
author:
Revolush melds the bluesy, melodic of the late '70s with upbeat tunes reminiscent of Brit-pop pioneers like (pre-Paul Carrack) Squeeze. While this might seem retrogressive, it gives the Milwaukee band a sound unlike many of the homogeneous major-label bands currently clogging the charts.
