When listening to the first track, When I’m Ready, one will be captured by the beauty and quality of this artists voice. It won’t take long to recognize that the underlying guitar work is also of outstanding quality. Looking at the credits you will find Grammy award winner, Bill Mize, doing the arranging and playing on this and three other tracks. You’ll also notice a bevy of talented Montana musicians chiming in, most noticeably David Griffith who apparently hasn’t met a musical instrument he can’t master. Mr. Griffith is also the sound engineer and co-producer as well as a member of Montana’s famous Rob Quist and The Great Northern. Listening to the rest of the CD you will uncover an array of styles this singer/songwriter uses including bluegrass, gospel, blues, and folk.

You get a sense from the subject matter of what is important to Rhanda. Most obvious is her family. She sings about her visits with her father in Over Breakfast and about her love for her daughters in Joy and Hallelujah. She has also penned two numbers that are spiritual in nature that frame this work starting with the previously mentioned When I’m Ready, and ending with the title track, Look To Me. This work is rounded out with a good representation of compositions dealing with matters of the heart and a witty anthem to what women really want in If I Was My Own Girlfriend.

In a state that has seen a large influx of people from other states, Rhanda is a rare gem of homegrown talent. She was born and raised in the small northwestern Montana town of Plains. Although it took her until she was in her 40’s to be able to record her first CD, you’ll find it was well worth the wait.
