Album Notes

Liz Rhodes, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, began as a classical bass player at age eight and clarinet at ten. Studying music at a university level, she began to branch out from her classical roots into jazz, folk, and rock, playing with various bands, including the all-girl folk group, Sassafras. She has accompanied artists such as Gladys Knight, Renée Fleming, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Audra McDonald, Sissel, and Michael Martin Murphey.

Liz began playing the guitar in February 2006 with an interest in songwriting. Taking a step back from her classical studies, her pop influences include Maxfield, Kate Rusby, Beck, Nick Drake, the Beatles, the Smashing Pumpkins, Ella Fitzgerald, and other various artists. In September 2006, she began recording with engineer, producer, and keyboard player Aaron Hatch. The album of ten lyrical, heartfelt songs was recorded at a cabin in Wildwood on the Provo River. Red and Yellow was released on December 27, 2006.

Liz Rhodes continues to perform orchestrally and as a local singer/songwriter. To contact Liz, please write to emarhodes@gmail.com, or visit myspace.com/lizrhodes.
