Album Notes

What would you get if you crossed Jill Scott with Diana Krall? A force to be reckoned with, that's what. Wearing a sexy mane of dreadlocks cascading down her back, expressive almond eyes and an infectious smile, the stunning Rhonda Ross is dynamic on the stage. Her strength is undeniable, her joy -- irresistibly magnetic. And when she performs with pianist/composer Rodney Kendrick, her husband of seven years, the chemistry between them is delicious. Rhonda communicates straight from her heart to yours. In the blink of an eye, she effortlessly transforms between a sensual siren and a powerful teller of truths. You can feel that in her young life, she has already lived through all the lyrics that she writes and sings. And these luscious songs are some of the most eloquent and inspiring we've heard on love and life. Deeply spiritual, uplifting yet grounded; Rhonda's "wise beyond her years" lyrics are introspective and inspiring. David Finkle of Backstage magazine writes, "[Through her original compositions, Rhonda] pieces together the portrait of a woman who understands herself and the complicated world in which she functions. She's not afraid to take risks with either melody or lyrics". And riding on her richly textured voice, Rhonda's compositions become deep, melodic soulful gems. For a sultry mix of blues and spoken word poetry, Rhonda Ross is not to be missed!
