AND NOW.......A FEW BIO NOTES>>>>>>>>>
Rhondda Nunes was born in the heart of the California
inland delta in Stockton, CA; about 50 miles south of Sacramento and 80 miles east of San Francisco, CA. She studied jazz and blues with famed high school band director Mel Won; whose jazz bands at Franklin High School (Stockton) regularly placed in firsts at statewide jazz competitions.
Receiving numerous scholarship offers, Rhondda chose to attend UCLA where her Piano Sonata in One Movement received
a College of Fine Arts Dean's Award. Graduating cum laude
with a degree in Music Composition/Theory, Rhondda was offered
a teaching assistantship at the University of Pacific in her hometown (Stockton) where she taught music theory, keyboard harmony and eartraining. After getting her M.M.
in Composition from the Dave Brubeck Conservatory of Music at Pacific; Rhondda decided to "Fly without a net" and is not affliated with a university.
Rhondda has just completed a film score for the indie movie "From Inside Out" ( coming full circle from her studies in film composition with UCLA'S Film Music Professor David Raksin[also Frank Zappa's composition teacher] ). She has performed with many nor-cali bands in the styles of blues, rock, jazz, latin, "old-school",soul
gospel---as well as continuing her work as a "serious" composer(whatever the hecka that means...). Her band
Rhondda Nunes and the Rockin' Blues Xpress aims to deconstruct (and then reconsruct the Rockin' Rhondda way)
blues originals ( for example, her cover of "Crossroads"
harkens back to the Robert Johnson original, not the more common Eric Clapton version);n' add a "funky bluesy" imprint derived from her personal keyboard and vocal style.
Be it jazzy hip-hop, singer-songwriter, rock, blues, R' n' B',latin or even punk it's all "bluesy" if Rockin' Rhondda is at the helm.
*And Now*....A Few Words From Rhondda>>>>>>.
Some of you may ask...why spend $5.00 for a CD with only 3 songs on it in the age of digital download...here's why:
1. The "real copy" has my signature on it.
2. It also has my artwork version of the
"Faker Laker" Lyric of version 1 n' the
"Phyllicious" 'tude. *{Dude}*
3. I'll give you the back story n' dish...
Maybe future song upgrades. Invitations to
Public gigs. Only with your permission of
course. I would "arrest spammers" if I could.
But 'enuff 'bout me-

author: cleto & the cletoneswe would like to hear more universal themes with ms. nunes' energy. lyrics about something other than basketball? how many blues afficionados care about basketball? We want to hear her jam. more than we care about the kings.
We Want More?
author: Y.E.S.S. FESTok....we saw Rhondda at the Y.E.S.S. fest today. She is a wonderfull wild & crazy energy that pulls you in: all the sudden my kids want to play keyboard. Back in my day, it was all about rock guitar; I'd like to hear more from what I saw today.A collaboration with what I hope is a bootleg youtube video.(someone got it, right?)!
I don't just want to hear the new King's Song.......
author: Kara is Clutch!I want to hear what Rhondda has planned for the Monarch's song she talks about in her website notes. Does it sound the same? Will it be different? how? I love as a chick how talented she is with the knowledge of B-ball strategy.
I dig the sound & the 'tude.
author: c.w./phillyI agree with Anonymous local sports writer, like to hear some new stuff ASAP.Stopteasing us Rhondda with just a little taste. We expect more from you.
I like the sexy voice mixed with the funkalicous beat.
author: Anonymous Local Sports ReporterI really like the sound that Rhondda Nunes has put together here, the musical combination of sensously jazzy hip-hop with touches of R'n' B' and funk, rock n' latin. Unfortunately, a CD with just 3 versions of 1 song leaves me wanting a lot more from her, she needs to put a follow-up effort ASAP for musical and sports fans. It is because I ended up a little frustrated with just the 1 song that I gave her 4 stars, I felt a little let down because I wanted to hear more. I have to order the 'diva of basketball beats' back to the drawing board for more funkalicous product.
A kickin' sound!
author: A Fan of The MusicI'm no fan of the Sacramento Kings, or even basketball for that matter. That said though, this CD is AWESOME! The sound is some of the funkiest hip-hop I've every heard, with a little sultry bluesiness added to the mix. I also think that, with all the personal mention of specific Kings' players, any fan of the team should really love this! Keep kickin' it, Ms. Nunes! :^)
