This RHYTHM & GROOVE CLUB was recorded in NEW ORLEANS at the famous SEA SAINT STUDIOS with JEFF COOK on vocals, ALLEN TOUSSAINT on piano, Reggie Toussaint on percussion, AMADEE CASTENELL on tenor, STEVE GOUDEAU on guitar, TINSLEY ELLIS on guitar, DAVID BERARD on bass, NICHOLAS PEYTON on trumpet, HERMANN LE BEAU JR on drums and a host of other CRESENT CITY notables.
The cd features songs by ALLEN TOUSSAINT, ROSCO GORDON, MOSE ALLISON and others.
Cook wrote songs and played for years with TOMMY BOLIN and together they wrote songs recorded by JAMES GANG, DEEP PURPLE, MOTLEY CRUE and both of BOLINS solo projects.
Cook was the lead singer of ENERGY a band both BOLIN and COOK formed. The band never recorded an album and BOLIN was often quoted as saying this group was the best he ever played with.
After Bolin's untimely death, COOK left the performing side of the business to work with various record labels.
He has worked at ARISTA, ELEKTRA, CAPRICORN and NEW WEST RECORDS.
This project has been a true LABOR OF LOVE. Cook called working with ALLEN TOUSSAINT " a true gift from above and an answer to a life long dream". " He is one of the world's greatest living musicians, performers, arrangers and a true gentleman. I was honored to be in the same room with him.!"
