ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Richard Bennett, studio guitarist for 46 years and currently playing with Mark Knopfler, steps forward as a leader with Themes From A Rainy Decade, an album of self penned, thematic guitar instrumentals. The 12 songs cover a breathtaking variety of styles that remain focused around Bennett's unmistakeable guitar tone and melodies that you'll be able to whistle after you've heard them.

From the liner notes of Themes From A Rainy Decade, Mark Knopfler writes, "For almost ten years now I've felt very lucky having Richard Bennett as a pal and as a member of the band. His quiet, self-effacing manner hides an encyclopaedic knowledge of all kinds of roots and rock music, from Hillbilly to Hawaiian, played effortlessly on a variety of instruments which appear out of a flight case as big as an Airstream trailer...... May his cracking guitar playing find a place in your life as it has in mine."

refreshing licks, with stunning tones
This guitar work is what brought me to playing along time ago! Refreshing sounds akin to the Ventures.

For Diamond's, Knopfler's, Morricone's fans? For Richard Bennett's first!!!!
At last...what a great solo album!! Well, the "Rainy Decade" largely exceeds my best expectations: this album is simply a masterwork and a "must" in everyone's cd collection. The tunes, the melody and the arrangements are wonderful, and listening track by track, the recourring question is: what are we going to have next? Not easy for an instrumental record to keep the attention and the level so high. Not to mention the superb guitar playing of Bennett which is nowadays a true "trade-mark". Can't wait for the new Knopfler's tour to see Richard back in action.

My favourites (well, difficult "cherry picking"): Riviera, Blue at Best, Flaming Palomino, Castaway, Ashes...goshh, I have to stop.

I feel it very influenced by Mark's music and I love it, that tremedously melodic tunes feels so great.
Excelent job Richard!

Liquid Gold
Richard's style is smoother than liquid gold, if you like instrumental guitar music then this one is a must! if you don't well, it's still just great soothing music.
This album was recommended to me - I'm glad it was.

Inspiring work from a master of touch and tone!
It's great to see so many appreciate Richard Bennett's talents. I hear everything from Kenny Burrell to Danny Gatton on this C.D. An inspiring lesson in taste, tone and genre bending versatilty.Instrumentals are in! Congratulations Richard and thanks for all your hard work. Let's all hope this is just a warm up...

Tremendously enjoyable!
I loved the various moods created in this CD. It is something everyone would enjoy. Perfect background music for any occasion. Great guitar playing. Loved Richard Bennett when he was touring with Neil Diamond, and Richard is still a consummate guitar player.

Superb retro guitar instrumental album.
This is a superb guitar instrumental album. If you like classic guitar instrumentals (eg Duane Eddy), surf music, or the low sounds of Angelo Baddelamenti (sp?), etc. you will love this record. Every song is excellent. Not a high energy hard rock shred guitarist record (I mean that as a compliment), but great listening. Bennett has a great feel, a great sound and excellent tunes.
