Richard began to write songs seriously at the age of 47 following the death of his father. The first song on this cd is dedicated to both of his parents, who were European immigrants. Richard's writing style is best described as very personal and passionate and his deep, soulful voice nicely compliments his writing style. This CD is reflective, but also features some funny, uptempo songs like the Cajun tune, "Thinking of the Big Mamou" and the anti-war song, "Tell Me Why", which was written the day after 9/11. His musical style is diverse and he has been compared to writers such as Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker and Don Williams. This album is played extensively on the "American Roots" radio stations throughout Europe and was album of the week on JRRI in Ireland where Joe Vincent called the album "brilliant", "mighty stuff" and "well crafted". The proceeds from all of his music are donated to charity.
