The inspiration for this album is drawn from a lifetime of living around the world. Everything from tobacco-picking in Ontario, Canada to managing a 5-star hotel in Sydney, Australia (plus a hell of a lot in between) have made their mark.
Eventually it was time to find a home and a more valid lifestyle, and our retreat to our little island on the west coast of Norway provided the time and the magical environment to at last create an album. It was recorded on a neighbouring island in Ocean Sound Recording Studio, which is a converted boathouse, looking out across the sea.
My musical heroes over the years will also have played their part, so thank you to Lowell George, Jackson Browne, Don Henley, Mark Knopfler, Paul Brady and many, many others up to my current favourite, Royal Wood.
The result? - The music has an American origin primarily, but in this case it is west coast music not only of California, but perhaps with a flavour of west coast Norway and westcountry England (where I grew up). And maybe just a trace here and there of west coast Ireland (thanks perhaps to my great grandmother from Ireland who must have been watching over me).
