Album Notes

"This duo is different from many 'occasional duos' which form in the field of jazz. Jim and I have spent many hours performing, practicing and discussing these arrangements. The combination of the guitar and piano is a challenge. Both instruments are similar in range and the harmonic structures that are created must work in agreement with each other at all times. This recording was done under the influence of a full moon, so to speak. I've always felt that the new and full moon were capable of producing different emotions and shifting energies. These changes can produce very powerful effects on the performance of music." Matt Richard, 1999

"The music on this recording is a manifestation of some of the various
musical dialects that Matt and I have enjoyed exploring since the duos
inception in 1995. To me, these pieces seem to give the duo a wider
scope musically, by offering distinctive textural and emotional elements through which the improvisation can be expressed." Jim Robitaille, 1999

REVIEWS

Intimate, soothing and pleasant
author: John O'Connor
The greatest guitar/piano duo, of course, was Bill Evans and Jim Hall. These two aren't quite in that category, but close. Excellent instrumental work, good solos and a good choice of songs. This CD is well worth listening to over and over again. Two good musicians working together.
