Album Notes

Actors usually don't want to be type cast, fearing it will crimp their style or impinge on their creativity, not to mention their careers. Many songwriters can relate. Still, in today's era of buzz words and short-attention spans, people want some kind of shortcut to help understand the music they hear. I use the term "eclectic acoustic" to describe the music on this record. That simply means there's a little bit of everything here (well, maybe not Rap …haven't quite gotten there yet). But you'll hear rock, folk, country, jazz, blues and even a trace of classical in these tunes. Some are autobiographical. Others are, shall we say, story-telling based on fact. In any case, the songs - like bridges - are meant to take you somewhere, to another emotional or spiritual place, and provide a little meaning and fun along the way. May you enjoy the crossing.

REVIEWS

Surprised by Bridges - expected typical folkie; NOT!
author: Kyle Stromm
My girl friend bought this CD and when I read the liner notes, I thought, puh-lease, another self-absorbed folkie who doesn't realize that train has left the station. But when I actually listened to it, the music proved me wrong. What Burnett writes about may be familiar, but the craft is original, the lyrics are fresh and the music is just evenly good. Four stars from this skeptic!

Mellow, enjoyable collection of love ballads with thoughtful lyrics.
author: Lonnie Knabel
Richard has a unique sound, with his voice and arrangements. He has assembled a quality team of vocalists and musicians as his accompaniansts. The CD is a collection of love ballads that are enjoyable and thought provoking. Many seem like they are written from his real world experience. The songs are not sappy, but instead make you think while you're enjoying the music.
