About Rich Flanders

Rich’s first cd, “Yondering”- “classic western songs of earth, sky, and the great lone places”- was nominated Album of the Year by The Academy of Western Artists, 2008, and received The Will Rogers Cowboy Award for Best Song ("Blue Prairie.") It is available on CD Baby. Musical Medicine, the newsletter of the Inner Harmony Health Center commented, "The music of Yondering reaches deep into the heart, bringing a sense of peace in an unsettling world." His second album, “Ride Away,” also available on CD Baby, received three nominations in 2010 from The Western Music Association: Album of the Year, Best Traditional Western Album and Best Original Song ("Thirteen Voices.").

Rich is the new voice of “Cowboy Bob” and “Woody Guppie” at Rubber Chicken Cards, and he has performed on Broadway in “Shenandoah,” toured with the First National Company of “Annie,” and appeared in repertory, off-Broadway, stock and dinner theatre companies across the U.S. Recent New York appearances include the Broadway Concerts Direct production of “Sarah Rice & Friends” and the animal-rescue benefit concert, “Love Makes The World Go ‘Round” at The Metropolitan Room and at Birdland in Manhattan. Most recently he teamed with singer Celia Berk and musical director Alex Rybeck in "Double Standards," featuring the music of Johnny Mercer, Rodgers & Hart, Gershwin, Irving Berlin and other masters of the "great American Songbook" at the Don't Tell Mama cabaret in Manhattan

He is honored to have been chosen by Judy Kellersberger to record her beautiful tribute to a great river. The lyrics of "Tribute To The Hudson" were recently used in Pete Seeger's Clearwater Festival brochure. The song was played at the opening of the Quadricentennial at the 2009 Knickerbocker Ice Festival and is beginning to receive airplay all along the Hudson River Valley.

This song is not only lovely, it is timeless. The lyrics are well written and descriptive of one of one of the major world rivers. The melody is lovely and memorable, and Rich Flanders' voice is rich and true. This is a treasure! Where did it come from? Who is Judy Kellersberger? Whoever she is, she created a classic.
