Album Notes

From the liner notes of "Onward...":

We started "Blues Saturday Afternoons" at "another" place in the summer of 1997. Everyone mistook the bass player, Jon Stenber, for my nephew, so I came up with an idea/joke of introducing the band as members of my family. My drummer, Bill Earle, who was a few years older than me, was introduced as my grandfather. I told the crowd we liked to keep things in the family & that you could "buy" your way into ours by purchasing one of our CD's. As time went on, we developed quite a following of uncles, aunts & cuzzins'. When the band started playing the blues club Starboard Attitude on the Redondo Beach Pier in California, that's when we really became a "family". It was a smaller more intimate setting where the crowd, employees & band formed a very magical bond that is still present to this day. "Blues Saturdays" became "Family Reunion" day. When we decided to record our next CD "live", we knew it had to be at the Starboard with the "family". "Uncle" Caylor even gave us the name for the CD. When he would leave at the end of the gig, he would never say goodbye, but his quietly spoken "Onward" seemed to say it all. This CD is their CD. They not only named it, but they were the inspiration for it. This CD is the result of their special love & support. I wish all bands could have the "family" we have been blessed with. So please, sit back, crank it up & enjoy a very special & very important moment in my life. I honestly love these people with all my heart. Onward.... - Rich Harper
