Album Notes

"Always a delight when you get something really special sent in... I really like this... Really good stuff... Unsigned but that doesn't mean it's not quality".

Ralph McLean, reviewing 'No Denying', Good Friday '09. (1st radio airplay!) BBC Radio Ulster (see blog).

"You have spirit and class and I wish you well. Stands out above the casio keyboard mock dance bland-a-rama."

'Big George' Webley. Songwriter & Sony award winning BBC London & Radio 2 presenter.

The songs I write and sing are not confined into any one distinct genre and not in homage to anyone in particular, (except maybe 'Steps' of course, the greatest rock 'n roll band!!). YEAH RIGHT. Anyway, I love music that I can feel, and that is the inspiration that I seek. Generally I'm not into music without some sort of soul - not necessarily 'soul music' though. Some music just smacks of dollar signs, and I hate that. Music that goes beyond the daily life experience, and takes us into another world, one where everything is possible is where it's at I believe.

Music to me is about communication, emotion and melody. And although I have never been a prolific songwriter, (even though it's something I love to do), as I've spent most of my time listening to music by others, I still believe that music should have something to say, in as such that's what I try to do. I may now be out of work but I'm really glad to be at last working on something that I actually enjoy, although has taken many years. Sometimes... the results may even sound quite cool.

I have a theory that there are songs 'out there' and that if you get in the right frame they will come to you. (Maybe I should get out a bit more!!) Sounds a bit New Age' or 'out there', which I am not really; oh alright, well maybe I am a bit, but it's true if you seek you will find if dedicated, work hard (and lucky)... which is not as easy as it sounds, with all the contradictions that arise.

I have been around in music for a long time, on the edge of things, preferring to keep out of the limelight. I was there when the Specials and other two tone bands were starting out, and arranged coach parties to their out of town gigs in the early early days. I supported U2 when they were playing pubs. I've done live sound for many well known artists, Glenn Tilbrook / Chris Difford (from Squeeze), Tina Dico, Il Divo (!), Kiki Dee, Jay Nash & Amber Rubarth, Feargal Sharkey, + many others. Toured UK & Europe both playing drums and doing guest vocals. This is however the first time in my life I have released any of my own songs. There are more as well... I hope you enjoy this one though, which is only a baby compared to others. Keep the faith, love and feeling, it never grows old... Peace, Richie
