Album Notes

Singer/songwriter Rich Kubicz grew up in the small suburban town of Union, New Jersey. In the late 70's, Rich discovered his adoration for music after listening to classic rock bands such as Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. He admired each one of these bands for different reasons. Queen for its showmanship, Floyd for the depth of lyrics, Zeppelin for it's musicianship and The Stones for their pop savvy melody. Yet each one of these bands also had something in common that Rich took note of. Although each band had their own individual styles, their music was presented from album to album utilizing a plethora of musical eclecticism. Whether it's Blues, Acoustic, Folk, Country or Hard Rock, each band was able to master each genre in their own right to become every man's hero.

Rich began playing the guitar at the age of nine using old country guitar books with the guide of chord charts found within the pages. His parents finally got sick of listening to "Home on the Range" so they got him formal lessons at the age of eleven. By the time he was 16, Rich was playing what he wanted to and also got into writing his own music.

In 1996, Rich entered Electric Reels Studios in Pleasant Valley, N.Y. to record "For Lindsay". The session went well so he put together a tape of 4 track recordings of nine more songs, brought together some very talented musicians and over the course of quite a few years, finally finished recording the album Echo Lake.

Oh My God!

It's not often that I come across an artist that can move me in a way that Rich Kubicz has. On the onset, the music seems to be mediocre at best...capable and intriguing, but still mediocre. A second listen changes all of that! I purchased this record on the merit of "Long Night" which was pleasantly an ear candy rendition of old time country pop. After I received the album...I discovered much more. Although "For Lindsay" is my favorite for it's in front lyrcysm and beautiful story....I found that Kubicz writes words that have meaning for all. He's a almost like Bruce Springsteen but better at times because he's more focused on the story and more up front about it! This is one hell of a record...an I would seriously stake my reputaion on it! Listen to this from start to finish...and you might even get the story line associated with it. REMARKABLE!

One Of The Most Important CDs You Will Ever Buy!
author: Nick Festa- BG Beat
Once in while, an artist writes an album so good, if you weren't a fan, you'd swear it was a Greatest hits compilation. Such works include Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, Led ZepplinII, Lou Reed's Transformer. Abbey Road, and Van Halen's debut. Add Echo lake to that list. In a world of contrived Kelly Clarksons, and Male model Creeds, Rich Kubicz's album contains something that many CD's over the past 10 years have lacked-MUSIC. Rich embodies the everyman of rock and roll. A role model to which the average American male can relate. At a time when many question the values of rock music, this New Jersey native proves that all your ex's don't have to be from Texas ( or the Red State of your choice). From the angst- filled chords of "Cheat" ,to the catchy verses of "Wrong Side of Town", "Not in Love" and the title track, to the poignent " for Lindsey" ( an open love letter to his stepdaughter), Kubicz funnels his deep, jovial, yet sometimes tormented soul into a well produced studio recording. Thank you Rich for producing such a refreshing, yet classic work of art. You are truely a "Working Class Hero"

A shear delight
author: Debbie Ferro
A beautiful collection of catchy acoustic guitar driven light rock songs that had my head bobbing and my toe tapping. The slower ballads were brilliantly written with both clever and sometimes very romantic lyrics. The production is top notch and the musicianship is outstanding. If you're a fan of Fleetwood Mac, Bad Company or The Kinks...you are going to absolutely LOVE this record. The few country themed songs really throw a positive wrench into this engine...I stopped trying to figure out what this guy is all about because he jumps from one genre to the next and commands all of it. Wait until you hear "For Lindsay"...you're gonna cry, it's an instant classic.
