An awesome and moving eclectic musical masterpiece.
author: George Ellenburg
I purchased Rich Marcil's CD a while ago and it is in so many of my iTunes playlists that it might as well be playing 24x7.
Rich's musical style, and bright airy music lifts you up no matter how bad the day is going. When I listen to "Castles," I catch myself day dreaming, transported by my imagination to Sherwood Forest. It's by far my favorite song.
"Passage" sounds like something you'd hear after an old English wedding ceremony and is light and smooth.
I've leant the CD to several people who all respond with "Wow" after they've heard it.
About the only thing that I can fault is the fact that the mixing for some of the instruments and the songs feels a little off-balance, but this is to be expected from a self-produced CD such as Rich's. Nothing that a couple of tweaks with the equalizer doesn't fix, but that's all.
If you're looking for some music to relax you, or to take an edge off a harried drive home, then I highly recommend this album.
Rich, you rock.

Refreshing acoustics combine with "Yanni-ish" melodic phrasing
author: Steve Y.
I was quite impressed with "From the Edge". The music offers a refreshing texture (similar to Water, Wind, and Stone from the group Checkfield), the melodies are neo-Narada-esq and catchy (I can't get Castles out of my head), and the CD leaves me wanting to hear more from this artist. It appears Marcil is not afraid to experiment with different melodic and rhythmic structures, several of which develop quite nicely on the CD. I have great expectations from this well-versed musician/composer, and look forward to future recordings.
