ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Deep Waters is my first and only CD (so far). It was a massive project involving work over 3 years time. Five years later, I'm still very happy with it. One of these days, I'll get around to recording a second one.

Here's a bit of history for ya:

I studied classical & jazz guitar in college, but was just as happy crunching out power chords in my band What's Next (two of whom are now members of CliffArt).

After college, I moved west and landed a gig in frontman Fred Swan's band Quixotics (now re-formed as The Imposters). But the East Coast was calling and I moved back to give What's Next another try. But try as we did Nine Ways to Sunday, things just did not work out. After some time off, I started playing in various church ensembles and finished my first CD, Deep Waters, in 2003.

I got the bug to play solo acoustic guitar again (steel string this time) and have been learning tunes & arrangements over the past year or so. Between that and a couple of church band gigs, I'm gettin my musical fix! I keep threatening to record a CD of solo acoustic stuff...

In the meantime, enjoy Deep Waters!

Outstanding!
This CD is a real grabber. The lyrics stress ones path to Jesus Christ but the music rocks. This CD will be a winner for the young generation that can listen through the music to the lyrics. Orchestration is solid with enough support to give the CD real presence. Rich Morey is a gifted musician and his talent is readily apparent in all of his songs. I especially like The Lion Never Sleeps.

Love it!
I love the music, the words too. And I can understand everything that you're singing which is great. So upbeat. I really like that. And there's such variety. Often I find that with other artists the whole CD sounds pretty much the same. But you have a lot of variance which is good.

Inspired!
I am truly inspired and convicted! You have shown a very wide range of emotions on your disk and I grovel at your feet. :)

Just What I Needed
I played the CD for 6 hours straight in my office today. Now that is what I've been needing around here. I can't share enough to explain how much the lyrics and music like that inspire, encourage and drive me; and spiritually so.

"Deep Waters" gives the Marianas Trench a run for it's money...
Morey covers all the bases in this CD. He takes us on a journey from quiet reflective moods to pulling out the air guitar and joining him on center stage. Just the right mix for rolling up the windows and cranking the volume. My
commute will never be the same...

Passionate, Variety of Sound
At first I thought this guy was another narcissistic throwback spawned from the Boston Movement but as I listened --- tuned in so to speak, I heard the artists’ spirit giving praise to God. How wonderful!! I will certainly share this with all my friends and play it during social time at my monthly safety meetings.

"Deep Waters" may be the understatment of the year!
Park your car somewhere quiet and plug in Captivated. Now turn it up! This mesmerizing instrumental will help you remember why you fell in love with the woman of your dreams. After that, sit and listen with the lyrics in hand and be taken on a journey of this man's musical expression of Christian spirituality. A fine tuned and well mixed gem of a first work!
