Finally, music that parents can enjoy as much as their kids!

When I was a child, our home was filled with music. Although there were some children's records, most of what I heard was what my parents were listening to - classic rock, folk, and even some disco. Part of the pleasure of music for me was the fact that it was something that everyone in my family shared.

M.B. Gordy and I wanted to make a record that parents and grandparents could enjoy with their children and grandchildren. So we got together with a few friends, picked out some familiar tunes, and took them places they had never been, from the mountains of Peru, to the Mississippi Delta, to the palaces of India and Europe.

I met James at the University of Southern California, and worked with him on a few projects, so when he approached me to collaborate with him on a children's CD, I jumped at the chance. Because I have two young children of my own, I felt that I could bring something to this table. We wanted to cross a lot of bridges with this project, and I think we accomplished just that.

Music truly is the universal language, as you will hear when you take a journey on our musical playground. Enjoy!
