If you’re looking for originality then you‘re on the right page. Rick Arnold is no “Average Country Joe” because with his great guitar grooves along with cool harmonica sounds you can always count on Rick’s lyrics and music to be one beat away from today’s major label product. Rick is definitely 100% original!!!
Rick Arnold, Entertainer, Musician and Hit Songwriter was born in Hazard, Kentucky. Rick’s interest in music began in high school, but sports was his main interest at that time. When Rick finished high school as an all state basketball player (from Clay County High School), it was time to get serious about music. After a couple of years playing music on the beaches of southern Florida, Rick settled in Nashville, Tennessee where he formed his own publishing company, Pig’s Eye Publishing, Inc. and scored big with Hank Williams Jr. recording his song “Hog Wild” and making it the title cut of his album. It was also included on the Hank Williams Jr. Box Set and was used by the University of Arkansas Football Team as their theme song. “Hog Wild” was also used in an ad by the Magic Bait Company as well as ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Show. Hank’s “Hog Wild” video will be on a soon to be released DVD. As an independent artist, Rick has charted 3 songs in the Top 100 of Billboard or Cashbox Magazines. In fact he was one of the last independent artists to get a single into the Top 100 of Billboard Magazine. Rick also had 3 Number 1 independent records and was the Independent Songwriter/Act of the Year in 1989 presented in Tyler, Texas.
In addition to writing the hit song “Hog Wild” that was recorded by Hank Williams Jr., Rick was also in the video and performed on the album. Rick's music has been used by Kentucky Educational Television in l996 in a story about swinging bridges in eastern Kentucky. He was also in a Mel Tillis video; has played at Billy Bob’s in Texas, and has appeared with and/or opened for Dr. Hook’s Ray Sawyer, Dan Seals, Percy Sledge, Stella Parton, William Lee Golden, and the Box Tops.
Rick released his 11th album of all original material in 2005. It is hard to say whether he enjoys writing and creating more or performing. He spends a great amount of time on the road performing, doing about 150 shows per year. He is one of the best one-man-bands you will find and he is very versatile in how he can perform. He does a lot of corporate work such as dinners, company picnics, family day, etc. He plays at resorts, clubs, and festivals. He can play for seniors, children and all those in between. For the last 10 years he has presented his very successful school program called “Follow Your Dreams” which is a combination of music, art demonstration and motivational message. His main instruments are electric guitar and harmonica and his music leans more toward country/rock and country/pop.
Rick has become very involved in filming and producing video documentaries and as always is writing new songs for his next album. For more info go to www. rickarnold.com
