Making one's first CD, much less a solo CD, can be a daunting task. Solo performance, in and of itself, puts the performer "out there naked", so to speak, opening up to the world, showing what's in the performer's heart. This is a terrifying thing for most all of us. However, at some point it becomes the only thing one can do, and this is that time for me. This CD is, as the title says, a foretaste of things to come. The only instrument on this CD is hammered dulcimer. Most tracks are solo, but on a couple I’ve layered two or three dulcimer parts for some fun.
Thanks go to Brandy, Charis, Cindy Ribet, John & Lisa Gibson, Richard & Jane Baker, Robert & Sharon Pullen, Jim & Marilyn Harding, Alice Saunders, Landis Moffitt, John & Mara Barnum, Joe Newberry, Marcy Prochaska, Dick Glasgow, Bill Troxler, Emily Smith, and many, many others who have put up with me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and helped me in so many ways I can't begin to tell it all in this space. But most of all, thanks be to God, who gives us the victory in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
November, 2004 Rick

Solo Dulcimer Extraordinaire
author: Elaine de Saxe
Very smooth and melodious and for a single instrument, complex and delightful. Rick's dulcimer *sings* :-). If you love Hammered Dulcimer, this is *the* solo album to buy!
