Special Things Keep Happening With Rick Frost’s Something Special!

Based on the repertoire of songs embodied in Something Special the popularity of Rick Frost’s older Tunes have been reignited! Ten of the 12 songs on Something Special hit #1 Status on Major Charts. Five tunes hit #1 on multiple Charts!

As the popularity of these tunes spread, nationally and internationally, the trend was reflected in Rick’s general stats. On Reverbnation.com Rick Frost is currently listed as being #1 on The Local NY Corridor Alternative Chart ( a position he has held for over 3 months); Rick is listed as Reverbnation’s #10 Artist on the National Alternative Chart and #20 0n the Global Alternative Chart!

The biggie, Reverbnation’s Global All-Genre Chart, finds Rick in position #242 out of over 300,000 Artists!!! The result has been Rick’s tunes are being added to the rotation on more stations on a daily basis. And , as stated, Rick’s success with his new tunes has reignited the passion for his older body of work. Rick’s last #1 on hardcoremix.com was “Homeless Joe” which held onto 1st for 4 weeks prior to falling to #2 this weekend. Just released this week, “Democracy “ is listed as a HOT NEW RELEASE and is rocketing to the top of the Charts. And, Starlight Productions has just asked Rick for permission to use State of Mind; Homeless Joe and Dogs In The Moonlight on a special Blog/Talk Radio Production.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED ME AND INDIE MUSIC ! – Take care, Rick

RICK FROST - Something Special

UPDATE !!! - "Can't Take You Halfway", off the Something Special CD, was released into rotation on hardcoremix.com
on Thurs., Sept. 25, 2008. By Tues., Oct. 1st, 2008 - Fan requests had lifted the song to the TOP OF THE CHARTS !!!
The 9th Song from this CD to reach #1 on a major Chart!Thank you folks - you are simply amazing.

Also, 15 Souls In My Pocket, was delayed when in June I was diagnosed with throat cancer. When I went back in July for the pre-op check up, the cancer had shrunk substantially. Four weeks later it was the size of a pencil eraser. In Sept. the cancer was barely visible prompting my doctor to say, "it is difficult to remove what you can't see."

I have received no medication, no therapy, nothing that would or should have an impact on a cancerous lesion ( the type of which I had). There is no medical explanation for what is visible on my treatment films. God? Faith? Manifesting of one's destiny? Prayers? I don't know. I don't profess to even have an inkling. All I know is that I have been touched by something much greater than myself alone. Something hat I am part of, yet, don't understand. Many of you were equally a part of this - thank you.

LATEST UPDATE! - MAY 14, 2008
Something Special kept rolling in 2008 with 5 Songs from the CD hitting Chart Topper Status. In the 1st 5 months of 2008 - Your Gone; Hey Allie and Curse all hit #1 Status on Hardcoremix.com alone.

In getting his new CD, 15 Souls In My Pocket, ready to join Something Special up on CDBaby, Rick Frost joined Reverbnation.com. Rick uploaded a half-dozen songs onto Reverbnation and the response has been mindblowing. In 3 months Rick watched as he moved up in the Alternative Music Bracket from # 10,000 + to #12 - where he is at today. He is ranked #12 out of 11,575 bands. Rick credits a lot of success being due to the musician friendly attitude of the large Internet Music Organizations.
Rick says, " With a roster behind you like hardcoremix.com; Reverbnation.com; and CDBaby.com - if you have a decent tune it will be heard; it will be visible; it will be available in every form immaginable. I think we live in an era that is really exciting for the Indie Musician." Rick closed out with a big "THANK YOU" to everybody. "Not just those who have bought my songs, or backed me - but to those that have offered sincere constructive criticism as well. It has all been greatly appreciated!"

Excerpts from Giglist.com - Where Rick Frost and Jen Sherman were voted "GigList Band of the Month, February, 2000":

"They are modern day crusaders who rock with musical messages of what's wrong in today's society .... crowd pleasers who generate excitement wherever they appear ....great stage presence ... accomplished musical style ...an impressive blend of acoustic/electric originals ...a great set, ( Power Slammed - A Musical Review, Roger Straub, The Trumpeter).

Current Reviews:

Commentary on Rick's, January, 2006, Solo Performance @ The Stony Creek Puppet Theater:

"Local artist, Rick Frost ...consummately folksy....with thin frame and Edgar Winter hair...immediately engaged the crowd with his congenial banter, dry humor and nimble licks on the acoustic guitar. With a nod to the "Year of the Dog", Rick began his self-penned tunes with "Dog Ditti", complete with howls. But the light intro belied a man on a poetic mission, and his politics and spirituality came through on the wings of some powerful lyrics as evidenced by "Homeless Joe" and "I Threw My Cell Phone In The Ocean Today" which he delivered in a vocal style somewhere between Arlo Gutherie and Elvin Bishop, a nice balance between sarcasm and genuine wordly concern. The package was effective and revved us up ....", ( A Night At The Puppet House With Rick Frost and Gandalf Murphy and The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Brian Gillie, CTMUSICSCENE.COM

From the Slambovian Wonder Wall:

"Rick Frost was exceptional - a truly gifted guitarist and lyricist. He kind of looked like a sorcerer; sure played like one! I'd never seen him perform solo before and was blown away."

"Rick Frost opened and put on the best show I've seen him do yet. Whatever it is that you are doing Rick, keep on doing it. I loved all the pokes and jokes on the politics that you did. After all this is America - We can say what we want and hopefully not get shot for it. Many laughs were had by much of what you said and it felt great to laugh."

"Rick Frost is really an amazing artist. The combination of stellar lyrics, excellent guitar playing and a compelling sense of humor makes for a winning combination. The talented man with the wild hair!"

"Special thanks to Rick Frost. Your opening set was wonderful."

I'm looking forward to hearing back, from old friends and new friends alike, with regard to the material that will be released on this site. The first step in this regathering, is the CD I released, on Jan. 21, 2006, "SOMETHING SPECIAL", at The Stony Creek Puppet Theater's," 2006 - Year of The Dog New Year's Celebration." Thanks to all of you who turned out for the performance. I will try to make as much of the material you heard that night available to you on this site. And, the opportunity to order the CD as well.

In putting this recording together, I deliberately restricted the input to vocals and guitar tracks. My feeling is that gives the listener a clearer understanding of my live presentation.

Thanks,
Rick Frost

I had the opportunity to see Rick Frost when he opened for Gandalf Murphy & The Slambovian Circus of Dreams at the Stony Creek Puppet House. He was thouroughly engaging. Over time his songs kept popping up on hardcoremix.com radio as No. 1 releases and they grew on me .. and grew on me. Number One - A Track At A Time

Rick Frost's CD, Something Special, is going #1 a Track at a time. The title song, Something Special, spent 12 weeks @ #1 on Hardcoremix.com's Al-Genre Chart; at the same time Dogs In The Moonlight spent 32 Weeks @ the #1 Position on Extraplay.com's U.S. Chart and World Acoustic Chart; while spending 20 weeks on the World All-Genre Chart. Currently, You're Gone is a "Hot Song" Pick on Hardcoremix and headed toward the top of the charts. During the interim - Rick has been named Artist of the Month and Something Special has been selected as CD of the Month by both Extraplay.com and the U.K. based AF Collective (ACC Radio). Rick put his recording together with an 8 Tk Recorder; a cracked Takamine Acoustic Electric; and zero bucks. The results are incredible. This is true talent at its best!
