Album Notes

Rick Hirsch, a guitarist from Los Angeles, California with roots in the deep south, Alabama and Georgia, began his career touring, playing guitar and writing music for the Southern Rock group, Wet Willie during the late Sixties thru the mid Seventies. He relocated to California in 1977 where he has done extensive studio work and toured and/or recorded with many artists, among them Gregg Allman, Cher, Joan Armatrading, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Newman, Bonnie Bramlett. He has performed and recorded with Billy and the Beaters, a local L.A. group, since 1982. In addition, he has composed for various television programs including NBC Sports, ABC Sports, CBS Sports, ESPN, ABC's late night talk show Rick Dees' Into The Night, The Leeza Gibbons Show (NBC) and music for several Olympic Games broadcasts.

No Regrets is a compilation of arrangements based on some of the themes from these various broadcasts. It is heartfelt and passionate music with lyrical melodies embraced by sophisticated chord structures and lush instrumentation. Rick's second CD, Instrumentality, is officially released. *please note incorrect track list for No Regrets. Tracks 6 and 7 should be titled in reverse, that is, Track 6 is actually I-10 and Track 7 is Early Departure. Thanks!

Perfect Escape

Listening to the early Wet Willie and current Hirsh shows the amazing maturity and talent achieved over the years. He still has the playful, soulful essence of Southern Boy all grown up expanding his horizons. I can listen to him 24 hours a day. Enough talent in those hands for 5 people. I'll be first in line for next master piece.

A dinner conversation with some other Mobilians mentioned Alan Hirsch, then Rick, then we had to find the Wet Willie album....finding a working turntable was more difficult. After that, Google "Rich Hirsch" and here we are! I'm Mobile born/raised in the 60's. Went to "Family Camp" with Alan, Lisa, Victoria, Jonathan, Steven a few years back. Living in Pensacola now. Great transition to smooth jazz guitar, love the sound, bought the album. Best wishes to you, Barry Ripps

Surprising!
author: Dan Pappas
Having heard Wet Willie in their prime during the Seventies, I was not expecting their guitarist to come up with this CD. While he may have been playing southern rock he must have been listening to something very different because these songs are definitely not southern rock. It has become my wife's favorite CD and I am finding myself listening to it a lot more. Speaking of more, when is the next one coming out? Thanks for a great website CDBaby!
