Album Notes

Rick Jensen is an accomplished performer, songwriter, pianist, singer, musical director, recording artist, record producer, and educator. And that only begins to describe his talents. He is a three time recipient of the Manhattan Association of Cabaret & Clubs (MAC) Award - including a 1999 MAC for Best Singer/Instrumenatlist.

In 1999, Rick was honored with two Gay and Lesbian American Music (GLAMA) Awards - including an award for Best Out Song of the Year for "My Baby and Me." He has also received several Backstage Bistro Awards for his work in Cabaret. He has performed at the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Convention many times. And this past summer Rick was a guest instructor at the annual the Eugene O'Neill Cabaret Symposium.

Rick's album Spring Harvest is a collection of his own original songs - many of which are cabaret standards - performed by artists in clubs throughout the country and recorded by stand outs like Lee Lessack, Lina Koutrakos, and the incomparable Nancy LaMott - with whom Rick was a musical partner for years.

In addition to writing, performing, and recording his own music, Rick works as musical director for some of the finest performers in cabaret today - including Barbara Fasano, Jeanne MacDonald, Carlos Martin, Frank Dain, and Willis Moore.

In 1996 Rick founded The Doctor Is In Music, a recording studio, and has produced his own Spring Harvest and Barbara Fasano's award winning Girls of Summer. Passionate about recording, Rick is currently producing projects with Frank Dain, Mark Vincent, Carlos Martin, Willis Moore, and Jeanne MacDonald.

A new artist worth a spin!!!

Very talented and unknown in his Freshman cd - a great fully produced sound with a cabaret sensibility. Took me a few songs to cotton to him. However, some songs are like finding a diamond in the sand - Me & My Baby and New Age of Love, but those that have a more classic feel are (I Guess) New York City is my Home and the duet with Nancy LaMott are likely to be performed by cabaret artists for years to come.

My favorite song was Spring Harvest, though I fell in love with all the songs. He plays the piano so beautifully that I can't wait for him to create more music. His writing is wry and engaging, his tone irreverent and fun, the feelings so powerful that I fear I'll wear out my CD if such a thing is possible. This CD is FANTASTIC!
