After recording four consecutive pop rock albums, McGuire took on a new style of music for his latest 2013 release McGuire Required Jazz. McGuire contributed lead and rhythm guitars, bass and drums while also recording, engineering and mixing the project. Also on the EP is local keyboard legend Donnie La Marca who lays down great textures behind the bluesy jazz guitar riffs. McGuire Required Jazz is the 5th release from Rick McGuire and contains 3 songs. This is however his first instrumental smooth jazz release.
2010 - The Perfect Day EP was released and was successful at college radio and was also picked up by MTV. The EP rose quickly like its predecessors on the CMJ college radio airplay chart.
2009 - Rick McGuire's third CD release, Dust and Tears is a mix of pop rock and alternative country with tasteful laid-back grooves. It was very successful at college radio as well as AAA radio. It was the first release from Jingle Monkey Records and produced, engineered, and recorded by Rick McGuire.
2004 - The multi-talented singer teamed up with Third Ear and the same group of players and released the four-song EP This Time. In addition to further college radio success, the single “Waiting For You” had Triple A airplay and was included on the Shut Eye Records compilation The United State of Americana that also included Rich Robinson (Black Crows), Amy England and the Wyatts.
2003 – The first release Screaming was produced by producer/engineer Tom Herbers (Low, Honey Dogs) and features Minneapolis session musicians Jim Anton (Jonny Lang) on bass, Noah Levy (Honey Dogs, Five For Fighting) on drums, in addition to La Marca. Driven by the popularity of the song “Falling Hard,” Screaming earned heavy spins on over 100 college stations and charted on the CMJ charts.
