Album Notes

Singer/Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music educator and composer, Rick McKee has finally released his long awaited debut solo cd. After writing songs for and playing with such varied groups as the Brillo Brothers, Solomon's Gold, The Beat Cleavers and Canaan Ridge, McKee gives us twelve well crafted songs that reflect the many different styles he has played over the years. Haunting lyrics of life's journey, love and heartbreak are seemlessly wed to great melodies and harmonies, and performed with passion. These are songs you will want to hear over and over again.

THe selections were drawn from a diverse musical universe yet all were done exquisitely for each genre. Because Rick has played all the instruments and tracks makes it feel of one mind. The edgy blues, the soft lament, all are done with the appropriate emphasis and feeling. A good soul searching offering with wonderful lyrics, Thanks RICK!!!!

Mckee's New Religion is about new beginnings, pulling back and starting fresh. The vocals are fresh and yet reminscent of some of my favorite artists. No bordom here. All tracks are innovative and inspiring with a combination of sounds. My favorite tracks include "Flying", "Repentance", and "My New Religion". All sounds coming from a man in who seems to be in love with life. Amazing talent, producer, engineer and musician extradinaire.
