Ricko is the Alabama born rapper who proclaims that his style is “down south kuntry slang wit a lil soul and a lot of passion.” Reppin’ the A.L. like no other rapper before him, Ricko has vowed to put Alabama on the hip-hop map. Rapping since the age of 16, Ricko has been influenced by hip-hop icons Outkast and DMX. His sound, however, is a distinctive style of his own which leaves a lasting impression incomparable to none.
A true hustla, Ricko started recording at age 18, and first received some college radio airplay with his independent single "Get That Paper" at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama while he was not even signed to a record label! A self-promoting machine, Ricko hustled his way into opening up for T.I., Jim Crowe and Free from 106 & Park in the Total U Tour. So far in 2006, Ricko has performed with Are You The Girl’s Oh So Crispie, S-Dub, Young Dro, and Gucci Mane.
Ricko is also a member of the Alabama group Dirty ALL-Starrz, which has a single “Shawty Drop” featured on The ILL Genius’ Compilation CD, "Tha 1st Block". The “Shawty Drop” ringtone is available at http://jivjiv.com/powersource. Ricko’s presence is heavily felt on Volumes 1 and 2 of the PowerSource Entertainment “Streets and Sheets” Mix CDs, which have been distributed along the east coast from New York to the ATL.
Now that Ricko has signed to Atlanta’s PowerSource Entertainment in December, 2005, he aims to conquer music first. Once he establishes himself as one of the next significant movements in the hip-hop game, Ricko plans to follow up his music with his clothing line, ALL-Starred UPTM, which is complete with ALL-Starred UPTM accessories.
“V.I. Pimpin” is the 1st single from Ricko’s forthcoming album, “Made in Alabama,” due to hit the streets and the stores late Summer, 2006. Ricko teamed up with the Dirty All-Starrz and Pretty Boy Floyd over an ILL Genius beat to create this new club anthem. “V.I. Pimpin" has already gotten rave reviews from DJs in the Southeast and East Coast, as well as DJ’s in Spain, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and other countries in Europe. V. I. Pimpin is anticipated as being one of the biggest hits of Summer ’06! Ricko’s V. I. Pimpin is currently in the Top 20 on 7 different radio stations in Canada as of May 1, 2006, and has already won Best Bass in Hip Hop for the week of Jan. 2, 2006. V. I. Pimpin was also in the Top 50 playlist on the rap station at American Idol Underground’s website in April, 2006 at www.idolunderground.com! V.I. Pimpin also charted on S.U.R.E. Record Pool’s Hot Off The Press Chart as the No. 1 new single in April, 2006. Not willing to settle for anything less, expect to see Ricko and hear his exclusive style everywhere as he blazes up the industry with his trademark sound! Soon everyone will see why Ricko is the #1 Draft Pick!
