Album Notes

I’m Rick Quarles and I’ve been the Singing Science Teacher for 12 years now. I’ve been featured on a major university’s Integrated Science Program videos that are broadcast throughout the U.S. and parts of Canada. I’ve taught both 6th and 7th grade science (life and physical as well as general science). I’ve always enjoyed doing activities and labs with my students as well as entertaining them with music and involving them with musical science skits. My original songs include a lot of science vocabulary and concepts in physical, earth, and life science set to all kinds of musical styles – rock n’ roll, rhythm and blues, country, bluegrass, blues, rap, and even easy listening. Teachers use the songs for instruction and reinforcement during the labs and activities. Students can even make up verses and dances to them. These songs are for all ages – children, parents, and teachers. My background in playing with various bands over the years, my interest in science, and my humor (one of my favorite authors was Shel Silverstein) gives me resources to write and record science and nature songs that are a little different from the norm. That’s why I call it “Science On The Wild Side”.

Also, check out my "Science On The Wild Side Strikes Back" CD and my latest CD of dance and novelty songs "Music To Swear By"(there's no profanity in the song lyrics - just fun). And, now available, my "Wild and Crazy Holiday Songs" CD with lots of humor and science.

What fun! My jaded 5th graders loved the songs. I've even heard them humming some verses during tests LOL
