Pithy. Poignant. Reflective. Hopeful. This collection of Rick's songs from the last 20 years or so has lyrics made from the meat and potatoes of the songwriter's craft: life, love, and relationships; these are songs that needed to be captured before they succumbed to the ether.
As usual for this sort of project, it just happened. The core of the band, Rick, SteveS, SteveB, Country Dave, Andy, Don, Burnie and Sheryl, gigged, played and refined the songs over the last couple of years. People kept asking for a CD... So here it is.

Rick Ravenscroft's CD "In This Lifetime" is one of those unusual CDs that can be equally enjoyed with full attention or as background music- the lyrics and the music are equally that strong.
Good down home arrangements, easy to remember lyrics so you can easily sing- but never, never pat or cliche. Rick is one of those rare performers who is equally powerful whether solo with his guitar or with the full line of Gospel Honkies.
Particular favorite songs are "Working For The Factory" a song about breaking the daily grind, "In This Lifetime" a sweet philosophy of living and the reggae-infused"From Tomorrow to Tomorrow", which asks us to reconsider in what time frame we live our dreams. An excellent debut CD- this is one everyone should have in their car for a road trip as you get propelled along the highways of life

Engaging and thoughtful lyrics with sweet melodies

The CD represents, in subtle ways, a philosophy of life. A gentle sense of poetry is supported by sweet and naturally arranged musical accompaniment. From the lightly political to the deeply personal, the songs are engaging both your heart and your mind. I liked it at first listening, yet I have grown more fond of this songwriter at each repeat playing. It has a folksy/country flavor and Rick has lead vocals that are rich and dynamic while tender and smooth. The whole effect is professional without being slick and glossy.
I cannot help but making positive comparisons with artists like John Prine and James Taylor, but at the same time there is something uniquely Ravenscroft about the songs and vocal delivery that makes this CD special.
