Press Release
For Ohio born Rick Rutti, music has always been in his life in one form or another, and has proved to be a lifelong passion that has culminated into a labor of love with the release of his debut CD, Dark Corners.
The roots of Rutti’s love of music firmly took hold in his teen years. At the age of 14, he began taking his interest in music into the arena of playing in a rock n’ roll band, and soon branched out into taking the stage in a variety of musical theater productions, like Jesus Christ Superstar, during his formative high school years.
The rhythms of life carried him along to seek sunnier pastures, and Rutti ended up in San Diego, CA., where he began parlaying his musical theater prowess from his high school days into appearances in Tommy and Hair, to name but a few, at Southwestern College.
The tickling of the ivories became a way to further make a name for himself, as Rutti securing steady gigs at venues, such as the renowned Humphrey’s By The Bay. And, he also began a stint doing commercial work. But Rutti was looking for an avenue where he could create music from the emotions that were swirling around inside of him, and needed a creative release. By taking pen to paper at the age of 21, Rutti drew from a wellspring of influences, chief among them Elton John, Billy Joel and Eric Carmen as his songwriting inspirations. Yet he maintained his own unique style of laying down tracks about the feelings that were yearning to be expressed with music. This form of expression is clearly and deftly illustrated in songs like, “Take all the love that finds me” from Dark Corners.

Excellent adult contemporary CD!

Venture into Rick Rutti’s “Dark Corners” and you’ll find an ear-pleasing collection of easy listening hits! Above all the amazing instrumentation and musical arrangements stands Rick’s vibrant and powerful vocals. “The Next Pretty Face” shows off all aspects of Rick’s skillful songwriting – memorable and relevant lyrics, catchy choruses, and great instrumental hooks. The harpsichord intro of “The Very Last Seat” is intense and mesmerizing, and sets the perfect mood for this emotional ballad. Furthermore, this song uses creative sounds that mirror its crafty lyrics. Throughout this entire CD, Rick displays great musical and vocal diversity, as demonstrated by the especially unforgettable, rock-infused “So Much for Words.” Wrapping things up on “Dark Corners” is remarkable production that asserts the perfect tone and mood on every song! Followers of Elton John will enjoy this excellent CD!
