This is the music we made in Mexico, playing the clubs of Puert Vallarta, Mazatlan, Guadalajara, Mexico City, and San Miguel with Genaro. The pay is only $10 a night, but the play is 7 nights a week, and the chops really get good that way. We'd arrive at our destination and in a day or two be working 7 days a week for several months at a time, and then move it on to another place. The crowds turn over every day because of the cruise ship activity whenever we work in port cities with cruise ship activity.
During the year 1992, Keri Leigh, who was writing her book about Stevie Ray, contacted me to offer a recap of my experience jamming with Stevie, which she included in her book, Stevie Ray..Soul to Soul, which came out in 1993.
I only just got up to speed issuing this, so that's why I look so old.... a little bit like Joe Lovano, wouldn't you say? Nevertheless, these CDs will become collectible since I only made a few hundred originals. But memories I hold dear, like knowing Stevie Ray, were what kept me playing the blues for many years. I'd like to keep it going, but only time will tell. This CD includes the song I wrote to commemorate SRV called One For Stevie Ray... along with some other snappy snippets... Enjoy.
