notes
Here's the SIXTH edition of the BLUES & BOOGIE PIANO SUMMIT concert series, staged October 9th, 2004 at a new venue- Xavier University's Gallagher Center Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio. This year featured five acts instead of the standard four- MARTIJN SCHOK & GRETA HOLTROP from the Netherlands; RENAUD PATIGNY from Brussels, Belgium; TIM DEELEN, an astounding twelve year old prodigy also from the Netherlands; and a couple of Cincinnati's natives: BIG JOE DUSKIN (84 years young!) & myself, RICKY NYE. Accompaniment was provided by my partners in crime NICK LLOYD (upright bass) & TONY FRANKLIN (drums).
This show took on the personality of the concerts staged by my European friends- the Gallagher Center is a great hall with superb acoustics, but the theater ambience did not dampen any of the excitement generated at any of the previous Southgate House shows- this was a truly lively evening, and a must-have for collectors of the BOOGIE SUMMIT CD series- enjoy!
Yours truly,
Ricky Nye
