ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This band was very much thrown together by accident. I met Hana and found out she was looking to start a band with other chick-rockers. So I made it my mission to help her, but I never had any intention of actually being in the band because I was already in another band. We'd met this girl drummer at the Austral but never got her number so we spent a few weeks trying to hunt her down without any luck. Then I stumbled across Matty.

I was working at Foodland on check-out when Matty started working there as a little shelf-stacker boy with a Ramones hair-cut. I remember vividly the first time I saw him. I was staring blankly out the window into the carpark while I was supposed to be working when I saw him collecting trolleys. I said "Who's that cute Ramones-haircut boy in the carpark?!" to one of the other check-out girls. She replied, "That's Matty, he's new." That night after work I interrogated him. "How old are you? What bands do you like? Do you like Ramones? Do you have a girlfriend?" and he had all the right answers. Particularly "Do you play an instrument?" "Yeah, drums." "Do you have somewhere to rehearse?" "Yeah, I live in a basement under our shed and my Dad used to play in bands so we have amps and mics and stuff too." "Wanna jam with us?" "Yeah ok" "PERFECT!"

Then I hooked up a lead singer because at that stage Hana was keeping her singing talents under her hat. We got a friend of mine and decided to teach her some basic guitar and had making her into a rockstar all planned out. Unfortunately I don't think that was in her own plans for her own life so she left the band pretty quick-smart. Anyway, before she left the only other component we needed was a bass-player so I said "I'll start rehearsing with you guys until you get a bass-player" Next thing I know we're playing our first 'gig' at a friends 21st. Just before we played that our singer quit so Hana took on vocals as well as guitar. We were down to the magic three for our first show and haven't really looked back.

About a year later Hana asked me whether we were still looking for a bass player. I said "I dunno, are you?" She said "Nah, I can't imagine anybody else in this band" and that's what I love about this band. Nobody's disposable. We all know our part and know that nobody else in the world can do it and I think that makes each one of us more dedicated. And we love each other.
- Ricochet Shannon

"I'd even give up a sloppy blow job midway to catch their next show." - Pete Da Stud (Back$eat Romeos).

"If you don't like Ricochet Pete you are lame and should be killed." - G.G. Alan Bindig
