Album Notes

Grandfather Ridiculous is a New York City based original music group. All of us met at the New School University in Manhattan circa early 2000. Since our first performance at New York City's Union Square Summer Concert Series in August of 2001 we have been working at creating grooving original music for dancing, partying, and reflection. Our music now represents influences from a wide array of musical genres including Hip Hop, Drum 'n Bass, Rock, Jazz, and Funk. Lately we have been playing shows to crowds in New York City, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. We have been honored with opening for Lake Trout, The Jazz Mandolin Project, and The ReBirth Brass Band! This is our first EP containing some of our fans favorite songs. It's a mix of our hip-hop sound, with some drum 'n bass, house, and funk mixed in. Hope you enjoy!

They're like, my favorite band.

I'm a musician and if I could do what they do, I wouldn't do what I do. These are some of my favorite songs by them, but they write so much music, and all of it is so good...and it keeps getting better. Oh, and believe the hype, when they play live, it's the baddest shit in the world.

It is a hybrid of hip-hop an jazz, with a little bit of electronic trip hop thrown in. I can so hear this as backing music on any MTV show. Soothing as well as though provoking. Has a tangible earthy quality. Hip hop that is this expressive is rare, and you'll appreciate the unique inflections they bring to the table. Great urban spring/summertime music.
