En 1991, nace el grupo comandado por los hermanos Hernández – Espín (Fayo y Gordo), en la ciudad de México, 14 años más tarde y con un extenso recorrido en la escena local e internacional el grupo actualmente está lanzando el mercado norteamericano su disco número XXX, titulado “Riesgo de Contagio”.
En la nueva producción, se grabaron 14 temas con un sonido garachoso en la base musical enriquecido por los sampleos, el theremin, organitos psicodélicos y el DJ al estilo “Riesgo”. Entre los músicos invitados encontramos a Jorge Cox Gaitán (Cowboy de antro) violinista reconocido por trabajar con el Buki y La Barranca, y a Bruno Morales
(Canción a Chabela) acordeonista de Mr. Tex, afamada banda grupera.
Las letras van desde narraciones de historietas de amor vistas de una forma alternativa (“Mi novia es terrorista”), hasta la historia que contaría una lengua a lo largo de su vida sin pasar de alto que, alguna vez, todos hemos espiado a la vecina. El lanzamiento del primer video (“No te quiero besar”), dirigido por Cristina Juárez y editado por el
ganador del Ariel, Alberto de Toro (“Nicotina”), circuló en MTV y Telehit en el mes de septiembre de 2004, durante el lanzamiento del disco en México.
El primer sencillo para USA (“Como Odio Sonreír”) es el tema de la película “Manos libres”, nominada a 9 Arieles y a los MTV Movie Awards 2005, del director Pepe Buil. “Mi novia es terrorista” y “Cowboy de Antro” suenan en el documental “Supersize Me”,del director Morgan Spurlock.

Riesgo de Contagio was born in Mexico City in 1991, founded by the Hernandez brothers – Espín (Fayo y Gordo), 14 years later and after extensive visits to the local and international rock scenes of Latin America, Riesgo is ready to release their sixth production here in the U.S.
On the new record entitled “Riesgo de Contagio,” they have produced 14 tracks with a strong garage sound as its musical basis, enriched with samples, psychedelic keyboards, and the usual “DJ Riesgo” style. Among the guest musicians participating on this record, we must mention Jorge Cox Gaitán (“Cowboy de Antro”), renowned violinist
who usually works with “El Buki” and “ La Barranca”. Also appearing is Bruno Morales (“Canción a Chabela”), accordionist from the recognized Mexican band Mr. Tex.
Lyrics range from alternative love stories (“Mi Novia es Terrorista”... My Girlfriend is a Terrorist) to the tale of the tongue that would talk about its own long life. Their first video single of the Mexican release was “No Te Quiero Besar” ( I Don’t Want To Kiss You) directed by Cristina Juárez and edited by Ariel Award winner Alberto de Toro
(“Nicotina”), got immediate heavy rotation on MTV-Mexico and Telehit in September 2004. Now comes its U.S. release, with a Street Date of October 25th, 2005.
The debut U.S. single, “Como Odio Sonreír” (I Don’t Like To Smile) is the theme song from the movie “Manos Libres” (Free Hands), nominated for 9 Ariel Awards as well as the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. It was directed by Pepe Buil.
Tracks “Mi Novia es Terrorista” and “Cowboy de Antro” are also featured in the documentary “Supersize Me,” directed by Morgan Spurlock.
