Album Notes

Rigney Family Bluegrass hails from just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. They are quickly gaining attention on the bluegrass scene with their unique, appealing blend of family vocal harmonies and innovative bluegrass instrumentation. This tight group of four exhibits the true spirit of family music captivating audiences in live performances with heart-warming young talent. Dad plays banjo and Mom plays bass while the two sons create the center of attention switching between mandolin, guitar and fiddle with double-barrel talents.
The Rigneys have a great sense of balancing the traditional with fresh new sounds. Two originals on “Stone County” were crafted by Andrew, the oldest son, at the age of 14. The youngest member of the group at age 11, Grant Rigney, has already been named two-time winner of the National Youth Entertainer of the Year award at the long-standing Smithville Fiddler’s Jamboree in Smithville, Tennessee for top performances in mandolin, fiddle, dobro and guitar.
This band has put together an impressive debut album that displays hard-driving creative bluegrass at its best reflecting contempory style with deep respect for its traditional fathers.
