Album Notes

Gary's piano put him through the Navy, college and law school. Along with his law practice he devotes his time to music and travel. (He speaks English, French and a little Italian).
About his new CD Gary admits that it's ironic that he named it "Background Music", as he has misgivings about putting music in the background.
He says: "I once thought that using music as background was a bit like using fine art as decor. But I became convinced of its merit when, while visiting the Canadian Rockies our dinner at the Chateau Lake Louise was enhanced by a pianist who gave us light classics and beautiful ballads from the standards. Having recorded some standards I thought I'd try the classics on this one. You won't hear these pieces as played by a concert pianist. I played them as if I were asked to play "in the background" in an elegant restaurant. I recorded "Clair de Lune" on my 1871 Steinway, the others on my "modern" 1917 Knabe. REVIEWS

Not nearly as uninspired as the title

Talk about no-BS advertising! This is quintessential background music, but not Muzak(tm). Careful, relaxed arrangements that provide a comfortable setting for whatever you're doing around the house.
