Album Notes

At the age of five, Rio could be heard singing nightly out her bedroom window into the midnight air. Her young voice carrying songs by Jack Scott, Johnny Cash and the like onto the deserted summer streets below. Her faithful fan was a German Shepard named Rebel, who would listen intently from a neighbors yard. It only seems fitting to name this EP after those summer nights: The Midnight Rebel Sessions.

Thank you to those who have made this release possible. Of course, thanks to Jack Scott and Lorrie and Larry Collins for the great songs we cover in this recording. All original songs (Be My Baby, Rockabilly Gal, When The Sun Goes Down) were written by Rio Scafone and Seán Eric Harris (ASCAP) (Copyright 2011), with lyrics by Rio Scafone, with help from Russ Marrone on "When The Sun Goes Down." The recording was made possible by the talent of the members of The Rockabilly Revival: Rio Scafone, Seán Eric Harris, Jarod Thompson, Brian Harris, Kimberly Maes and Jumpin' Jack Johnson. Thanks to Trish Shandor for her contributions as well.

This album was recorded almost exclusively with room micing like most of the original rockabilly recordings, recorded digitally, mixed and mastered on Logic. The recording was engineered by Seán Eric Harris, and mixed/mastered by Esther Navarez, with assitance from Seán Eric Harris and Rio Scafone.
