Album Notes

Rip Carson, what can I say!? He is the rockabilly singer's rockabilly singer! With passion and honesty, all sung in one of the most pleasing tones my ears have ever heard! His voice has been reviewed as "... smooth as Big Sandy, but more frantic on the level of Gene Vincent", and "Top notch, on par with Deke Dickerson, but more soul!" And Charlie Feathers' very own daughter says "My father would be proud!" And those are just praises for Rip's abilities, I haven't even mentioned his top notch band, featuring Paul Diffin (Blue Cats, Big Six), Joel Morin (Dawn Shipley, Pep Torres), and Michael Faghnan (Jaxon 4, Lustre Kings)!!! Rip has come a long way since his humble begginings in a small town deep in West Virginia, to become one of the top rockabilly acts in the world.

Rip has been called "The Real Deal". Being raised in the south with a family history firmly rooted in rockabilly and country music. His great uncle Bill Matthews had a few singles out on Dot Records in the mid 50s. Rip was born and raised in Madison, West Virginia. In 1992 his parents decided to move to San Diego, California for job opportunities. Upon arrival he found many young musicians that were interested in rock n' roll. He started his own rockabilly group in 1996. This group was called Rip Carson & The Twilight Trio. Shortly after their formation they were signed as the second act for the resurgence of Ronny Weiser's famous Rollin' Rock record label. The debut album was greeted with rave reviews, and it helped spawn the authentic rockabilly movement that now exists in Southern California. After a successful 4 years with the trio, the band called it quits and went their separate ways.

Rip is now performing as a solo artist whose records are filled with top notch studio musicians. Rip's 2002 release, "Box Set:the Singles Collection", is hailed as the best rockabilly record released since Big Sandy's seminal album "On the Go". His newest album, "My Simple Life", which has just been released, showcases the darker side of Rip's songwriting. But still has plenty of uptempo rockabilly numbers to get you up and dancing. This record also marks his first release for the rockabilly and surf label, Golly Gee Records! Recently Rip has also lent his talents in the studio to other artist's releases such as Deke Dickerson, The Paladins, Carl Sonny Leyland, James Hunter, Omar & The Stringpoppers, Josie Kruezer, Johnny Dilks, and Rockin' Ryan & The Real Goners. So, with loads of talent, a great voice, fantastic records, an energetic live show, and a loyal following, get yourself a record and check out a live show!
