Album Notes

An unfortunate accident in May of 1990 led to the formation of Rippopotamus in the shadow of the mutant indie rock scene of W. Mass that also produced such lack-luster acts as Dinosaur Jr.,The Pixies & Buffalo Tom. While the accident, which tragically left most of the bands members white, did render them extraordinarily funky, it was also the beginning of a long string of bizarre incidents involving the band.
Through a series of clerical errors (which have never been fully explained) the band received a series of awards including the Valley Advocate Readers Poll (the band was unaware that anyone read the Advocate), a Boston Music Award (what?) and Billboard Songwriting Contest (Honorable Mention). The honorable mention thing really perplexed the band as they were under the impression that none of them were honorable.
Another strange incident involved the Canadian Border Patrol. After being refused the right to depart the country by several members of the Canadian Border Patrol (the band claims they were inebriated,we weren't there we don't know!)alledgedly forced the band to appear at The Montreal Jazz Festival before allowing them to leave.
Most recently, in a situation straight out of the X-Files, the band claims to have been spiritually subjugated by a unnamed Boston pop band. While under this other bands influence the released a CD single for a song called "Superstar". Rippopotamus immediately denied all responsibility and refused to acknowledge any involvement. None of the band members would comment beyond Saxophonist and world reknowned Slabologist Dr. Gregorus Slabulopolous remarking, "Bad scene,man, bad scene".
